Child/Teen/Adults Psychotherapy
Working with children and teens is a passion of mine that involves creativity and sensitivity in response to the complex challenges they face. Whether within the family, school or due to their biochemistry, the experience of children is often that they struggle to understand their needs and express themselves effectively. As a child and teen therapist I utilize play, art, talk and cognitive behavioral techniques to facilitate such growth. The work includes the important involvement of the parents and sometimes the family as a whole.
In my practice I work with children who have psychiatric and social/emotional adjustment issues. A special interest of mine is in working with the issue of emotional attachments within an adoptive family, as well as adjustment within families challenged by developmental delays and significant medical concerns.
My work with adults is in the context of a compassionate interpersonal relationship for the purpose of developing self-awareness and facilitating an improved quality of life. A central focus is on the exploration of repetitive personal patterns that prevent success in self-defined goals as well as working on immediate concerns. Whether challenged by psychiatric conditions, trauma or issues related to work, significant relationships or familial issues, attention to the whole person is the framework.
